The Australian Specialty Coffee Association (ASCA) Roasters Guild will open registration for the 2019 AMC Australian Roasting Championship at 9am on 3 December 2018.
Once registered, competitors will be sent more details on the initial round, which includes roasting the compulsory coffee in their own roastery before sending it back for assessment.
From here, the top six competitors will be selected to compete in the final round as part of the 2019 ASCA Australian Coffee Championships, taking place at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo from 7 to 9 February 2019.
To register for the championship, roasters must be signed up as ASCA Roasters Guild members by 5pm on 30 November. Up to 20 competitors can register for the preliminary round.
This is the third Australian Roasting Championship the ASCA Roasters Guild has held since the competition launched in 2016. Jack Allisey of Veneziano Coffee Roasters won in the competition’s inaugural year, and Ben Toovey of Genovese Coffee took the 2018 title.
The winner of the 2019 AMC Australian Roasting Championship will compete in the World Coffee Roasting Championship, taking place in Rimini, Italy in January.
