2025 World Coffee Roasting Champion crowned

The World Coffee Championships has crowned France’s Mikaël Portannier as the 2025 World Coffee Roasting Champion at the Specialty Coffee Expo in Houston, United States.

Texture Coffee representative Mikaël defeated 22 other competitors in the four-day championship, including Australian representative Amber (Ning Chi) Cheng of Code Black Coffee who finished fifth in a tightly contested field.

Mikaël, however, earned a comprehensive victory with his final score of 569 points. His closest competitor, Taiwan’s Ashton Huang, finished in second with 551 points.

The podium was rounded out by Thailand’s Naruepon Wuttipappinyo who finished with a score of 546.

1st -Mikaël Portannier (Texture Coffee, France) 569
2nd – Ashton Huang (Rritrovare Coffee, Taiwan) 551
3rd – Naruepon Wuttipappinyo (Factory Coffee, Thailand) 546
4th – Song Chundan (尽力而为咖啡, China) 535
5th – Amber Cheng (Code Black Coffee, Australia) 534
6th – Zhenxing Ma (OLDGUANG COFFEE ROASTERS, China) 531
7th – Gianluca Lavacca (IL MANOVATE, Italy) 521.5
8th – Robert Rybczyński (STORY Coffee Roasters, Poland) 514
9th – Dorin Costea (Independent, Romania) 506
10th – Takeharu Onuki (MOOD Coffee & Espresso, Japan) 487
