ASCA announces regional comp dates

The Australian Specialty Coffee Association has announced that dates and locations of its 2020 regional coffee championships.

These events will include the regional Barista, Brewers Cup, Latte Art, and Cup Tasters Championships. Top placing competitors from the regionals will proceed to the 2020 national championships, with dates and locations to be announced at a later date.

The Central Region Championships will kick of the 2020 competition season at Fine Foods in New South Wales, from 10 to 12 September. Australian Capital Territory and NSW-based competitors can register from 8 July.

The Northern Region Barista Championship, covering Queensland and the Northern Territory, will be held from 5 to 6 October at Latitude Coffee in Queensland. Registrations open 9 July.

Later that month, the Southern Region Championship will take place at St Ali’s Port Melbourne roastery from 25 to 27 October, with registration opening 10 July.

The Western Region Barista Champion will round out the regional competitions at Optus Stadium in Western Australia, from 15 to 17 November. South and Western Australian competitors can register from 11 July.

Competitors with a valid and active ASCA membership will be able to register at the ASCA website.

Winners from the national championships will represent Australia in the World Brewers Cup and Barista Championship, taking place at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo from 4 to 7 May 2020, and the World Latte Art and Cup Tasters Championships at World of Coffee in Warsaw, Poland from 18 to 20 June.
