Australian Specialty Coffee Association (ASCA) has announced that scholarship applications are now open for judges and competitors to travel to their nearest regional competition.
Participants from the Northern Territory, South Australia and Tasmania who will not have a local ASCA competition this year, are invited to send an email to info@aasca.com explaining your coffee career and why you should receive a scholarship. Applications must be received before 29 July.
This year, ASCA will host Southern Region Championship from 17 to 18 September, the Northern Region Championship from 8 to 9 October, the Western Region Coffee Championship from 29 to 30 October, and the Central Region Championship from 26 to 27 November.

In other competition news, there is still time to register for the Harwood Andrews Golden Plate Awards in association with ASCA Regional Barista Competition, taking place from 16 to 17 July at Cockies Beer, South Geelong.
Aspiring baristas in regional Victoria can apply to participate in the Awards. To apply, email events@goldenplateawards.com.au
Hobart baristas will also be happy to hear that that the Southern Barista Guild will be holding a Latte Art Smackdown on 29 July.
The winner-takes-all event will take place 138 Elizabeth Street, Hobart in Tasmania.
Those looking to compete must register, starting at 5pm on the night. Entry fee is $20 to participant, and free to attend.
