ASCA Western Region Championships wrap-up

Ziggy Varamulia of Arlo has won the Australian Specialty Coffee Association (ASCA) 2020 Vitasoy Western Region Barista Championship.

Matt Goncalves of Merchant & Maker was runner-up and Lena Richrath of 5 Senses Coffee came third in the competition, which took place at Optus Stadium in Perth from 16 to 17 of November.

Andy Tseng of DarkStar Coffee won the 2020 Pauls Professional Western Region Latte Art Championship with Huang Yuan-Ching of Mel & Co. Kitchen placing runner-up and Alex Whigham of Cream placing third.

In the 2020 Western Region Brewers Cup, Heath Dalziel of Third Time Lucky was crowned champion with Renae Murray of 5 Senses Coffee finishing runner-up and Mike Wells of Veneziano Coffee Roasters placing third.

In the final event, Ru Teow of Laika Coffee won the 2020 TCX Western Region Cup Tasters Champion while self-proclaimed home enthusiast Cheng Paul finished runner-up ahead of independent entrant Wen DC, who placed third.

The World Brewers Cup and World Barista Championship will take place at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo from 4 to 7 of May 2020, while the World Latte Art and Cup Tasters Championship will take place in Warsaw, Poland at World of Coffee from 18 to 20 June.
