Marco Beverage Systems is launching the SP9 Brew Master Challenge, taking place on 25 November from 4pm to 10pm at Victoria Arduino Australia headquarters in Brunswick, Victoria.
Contests will go head-to-head and show off their pour-over skills to see who is the ‘SP9 brew Master’.
Round one will consist of a rapid-fire round where two of the competing baristas go head to head using the SP9 Brewer. The contestants will spin a wheel, what brewing device the wheel lands on they will have to brew with. Once both baristas have finished brewing, the coffees will be put in front of the judges for a blind taste test.
In round two, six competitors will make it to the second round, where they will be allowed to choose their own brewing device. Coffee for this round will be selected by the crowd after tasting.
Judges are Demelza Jones, Founder of SameCup, Nicole Novak, Certified Q-Grader and World Brewers Cup judge, and Harry Ko, Australian Brewers Cup Champion 2022.
Doors open at 4pm AET with the first knockout taking place from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Cupping and prizes will take place from 6.30pm to 7.00pm, and round 2 will take place from 7pm to 9pm. The event will finish with a party from 9pm to 10pm.
