The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) has announced the winners of the Best New Product Awards at the 2018 Specialty Coffee Expo in Seattle, including Australia’s Campos Coffee and Detpak.

Campos Coffee was awarded Best Pop-Up 1 Category for its skybridge booth.

The stand was flooded with visitors throughout the Specialty Coffee Expo from 19 to 22 April. Campos Coffee served a wide array of specialty coffees including Peru La Flor, the #1 Cup of Excellence Peru winner; Brazil Fazenda Bom Jardim, the # 1 Cup of Excellence Pulped Natural winner; Panama Santamaria Geisha, Best of Panama Natural Geisha #3; 2017 Top 30 Coffees from Coffee Review; Colombia La Maria, #2 Cup of Excellence; Panama Esmeralda Geisha Porton Pascua, Specialty Auction Lot.

Detpak’s Precision Series Cups won Best New Product – Coffee Accessory at the SCA Expo.

The Precision Series has been developed as a collaboration between Veneziano Coffee Roasters and Detpak to replicate the dine-in and takeaway coffee experience.

The cups, measured in millilitres, not ounces, have been designed to precisely reproduce dine-in cup volumes for the perfect coffee to milk ratio. The Precision Series is available in 160-millilitre, 200-millilitre, 240-millilitre, and 320-millilitre volumes via Veneziano Coffee Roasters and Detpak.

“We’re thrilled to receive this award. It validates that a broader international audience recognises and understands the cups’ importance and place in the specialty coffee community,” says Detpak’s Clint Hendry.

The Best New Product Awards, a long-running feature of the Expo, recognise new products judged on their quality and value to the specialty coffee and tea industry.

Ten different product categories are evaluated and a winner is declared in each category.

Additionally, judges selected the Best Booth and Best Pop-Up Café winners of this year’s event.

Coffunity, a smartphone app that provides instant information and reviews for coffee consumers around the world, won both the Technology Award and the Best of Show.

  • Coffunity: Technology/Best of Show
  • Ground Control: Commercial Coffee or Tea Preparation and Serving Equipment
  • Breville: Consumer Coffee or Tea Preparation and Serving Equipment (Electrical)

  • Detpak: Coffee Accessories
  • Dona Chai: Specialty Beverage Stand Alone
  • Pacific Foods: Specialty Beverage Flavor Additive
