A jam-packed calendar of coffee competitions continues in Melbourne Coffee Week with two national coffee championship events taking place from 11 – 12 March at Veneziano Coffee Roasters.
On 11 March the Australian Specialty Coffee Association (ASCA) will host the Australian Brewers Cup Championship Open Heats from 10am – 5pm.
The Brewers Cup competition promotes manual coffee brewing and service excellence.
The top two performing baristas will make it through to the finals round, taking place on 12 March along with the other regional competition winners. The finals will be run from 9am – 4pm.
The competitions will continue on 12 March with Veneziano also hosting the Australian Huhtamaki Cup Tasters Championship at its Richmond venue in Melbourne.
In the Cup Taster’s event, speed, skill and accuracy is the name of the game. In a timed atmosphere, competitors will distinguish the odd tasting coffee out of a triangulation from eight flights of coffee.
The Open heats for the Cup Taster’s Championships will take place at 4.30pm, with the finals running at 5pm.
Winner announcements for both competitions are scheduled for approximately 5.30pm.

The final remaining national coffee competition is the ASCA Australian Barista Championship, taking place at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo from 17 – 19 March.
