The Australian Pura Latte Art Championship will signal the beginning of the 2016 national coffee competitions when it takes place in conjunction with the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival (MFWF) next week.
From 4 – 5 March, latte artists will be invited to showcase their skills onstage, in an open-air event on the iconic red steps alongside Melbourne’s Yarra River.
The competition is kicking off at the MFWF Festival Hub on Queensbridge Square, with the Open Heats on Friday from 12pm – 2:30pm.
The winners of the regional championships will take on the winner from the open heats from 10am – 11:30am the following day.
The 2016 Festival Hub is paying homage to all things dairy for ten days of MFWF, featuring a daily rotation of events and menus for expert cheese and ice-cream makers from around the world.
MFWF has a number of workshops taking place alongside the latte art competition, including cheese making, kids workshops and demonstrations from D.O.C.
Internationally-renowned French baker Gontran Cherrier is taking up residency at MFWF’s Bakery during the Festival, the MFWF’s Milk Bar will serve coffee, sweets and treats and an ice creamery, cheese shop and bar will ensure everyone woverindulges while watching the competitions.
