The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) is seeking coffee specialists to help prepare coffee for judging in the 2019 Australian International Coffee Awards (AICA).
Calibration will be held on 19 March with judging to take place from 20 to 22 March at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Flemington, Victoria.
The awards, now in their seventh year, celebrate and promote excellence in coffee roasting in Australia and internationally.
William Angliss Institute Coffee Academy Teacher Coordinator Melissa Caia will oversee the 2019 judging panel, while Adam Metelmann will act as Head Barista.
“The high calibre of industry experts as judges, headed by Melissa, not only cements the credibility of the awards, but offers producers who participate a unique and highly valued opportunity to have their roasts assessed by the global industry’s best,” RASV CEO Paul Guerra says.
The RASV is calling for interested baristas to work during the judging next. The position is a fun, paid gig and a great networking opportunity.
Baristas’ duties will be specified on the first day, but will entail preparing equipment, maintaining machinery, and cleaning.
Interested espresso specialists and brewers can contact Adam via Instagram at @adammann14, or email metelmann.a@gmail.com or call 0405 264 489.
