The Chapel Street Precinct Association has crowned the winners of its 2024 Chapel Champion Awards, including Best Café.
Tone in Prahran, owned by former World Latte Art Champion Caleb Cha, was named Best Café in Melbourne, winning a $5000 prize and marketing package from organisers Chapel Street Precinct Association (CSPA) .
“We are delighted with the recent award. We have only been in business since September 2023, so this has been completely unexpected. I wasn’t even aware we had been nominated, so it really is such an honour to receive the prize,” says Caleb.
The Melbourne-based Chapel Champion awards are voted for by the public. Upon receiving the prize, Caleb put the café’s success down to its Tiger Bomb Espresso, which has been trending across various social media platforms.
“I have seen more and more frequent visitors. I am putting it down to the popularity of our Tiger Bomb Espresso, which is an espresso-based iced drink finished with cream and orange zest,” says Caleb.
After a two-year break, the Chapel Champion Awards recommenced in 2024 and aim to give the people of Melbourne the opportunity to vote for local businesses across 16 different categories.
CSPA is an independent membership-based, not-for-profit association representing over 2200 commercial properties and businesses in the Melbourne suburbs of South Yarra, Windsor, and Prahran.
