Café of the Year finalists revealed

The best Melbourne and Sydney’s cafés have been sampled and reviewed to make up this year’s Good Food Guide Café of the Year finalists.

It’s already been a big year for turmeric and matcha lattes, filter coffees, sweet treats and adventurous foods that have been pickled, grilled and torched – not to mention cafés spaces that mirror the architectural size of hotels and shoeboxes, and the year isn’t over yet.

The Age Good Food Guide has announced its top five finalists for the Café of the Year awards based on coffee and food quality, atmosphere and service. They include:

Glovers Station in Elsternwick

Higher Ground in Melbourne

Left Field in Carnegie

Mammoth in Armadale

Mayday Coffee & Food in Richmond

The Age Good Food Guide 2017 award night will take place on 12 September. The guide will be on sale in newsagents and bookstores from 13 September.

The Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) Good Food Guide Awards 2017 has also announced its Café of the Year finalists. They include:

Brickfields Cafe and Bakery in Chippendale

Edition Coffee Roasters in Darlinghurst
