After popular demand for knowledge and education at this year’s Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE), event organisers have confirmed the Café Owners Education Series will run again at MICE2025, taking place from 20 to 22 March, 2025.

The educational platform, sponsored by online order management system Ordermentum, took place across two of the days at MICE, addressing key topics of interest to business operators including profitability strategies, attracting and retaining talent, mastering workflow efficiency, designing café menus and circular economy solutions.

Hospitality journalist Wendy Hargreaves moderated the event, and was joined by industry panellists to share their insights and wisdom with packed MICE crowds daily.

“This year was the inauguration of the Café Owners Education Series, and we couldn’t have been more pleased with its success. We wanted MICE to be a place of education and value for visitors, more than ever before, and we identified that education on some of the industry’s key challenges and shared trends and changes was exactly what we needed to deliver on,” says MICE Show Director Lauren Chartres.

“Seeing the packed Café Corner and how many people were interested in hearing from our panellists was a clear sign of how much café owners and operators value information that can help their venue flourish, or move in the right direction. Adding value to MICE visitors is where we see the future of this esteemed expo, and maintaining an education experience is definitely part of our renewed strategy going forward.”

This year’s expo saw 10,897 visitors gather at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, in the annual event for buyers and sellers to do business in the one place.

The event hosted the return of the Global Coffee Report Leaders Symposium, hosted the second instalment of Australia’s Richest Barista competition, crowned White Owl Coffee the inaugural winner of Australia’s Favourite Coffee, and saw Scentible Consumable Sensory Kit by Barista Supplies win the Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice categories in the Product Innovation Awards.
