CafeSmart has acknowledged the fundraising efforts of 44 roasters and 717 cafés across Australia through a series of awards.

The social enterprise advocates for the fight against homelessness in Australia through coffee-based fundraisers.

Single O retained its position as Top Roaster Champion for CafeSmart, connecting 89 café customers to the event, who they supported with free beans for the main fundraising day.

“It’s no coincidence that StreetSmart and Single O are both celebrating their 20 years in 2023. This pioneering organisation rallied us on board in their first Sydney year and it’s been a fixture on the calendar ever since,” says Single O General Manager Mike Brabant. “Big shout out to our awesome café community and to the StreetSmart team for putting on another special edition.”

Grinders Coffee has been recognised for its efforts in recruiting and raising funds as a Roaster Partner for the first time, helping promote the campaign with its network and hosting a pop-up café at its Sydney office. The roaster even matched all funds raised by its customers.

“CafeSmart funds projects that provide for at risk and homeless people and the funds are able to be utilised local in communities such as Darebin Council where we’re based,” says Grinders Coffee Ambassador Jono Goldthorpe. “On top of that, we love being part of a fun day where our industry bands together for this great cause.”

Five Senses finished second as Top Roaster Runner-Up, and Ona Coffee, Allpress and Locale rounded out the top five roaster performers.

Kwik Coffee Bellevue won the award for the Top National Fundraiser, and was named this year’s photo competition winner.

Toby’s Estate Chippendale was runner-up for its national fundraising efforts, and Yahava Koffeeworks Swan Valley, Told you So, and Secondeli Cafe completed the top five fundraising cafés.

Allee Espresso was recognised as the top fundraising new café to the program, following by Ballina RSL.

This year’s event was made possible with the support of 2023 Principal Sponsors Vitasoy, La Marzocco and made by Fressko, CafeSmart 2023 Supporting Sponsor Coffee Tools Distributing.
