The Australian coffee industry has been supporting national non-for-profit StreetSmart Australia through the CafeSmart event. According to CafeSmart, many industry peers are proving to be amazing philanthropists by extending fundraising efforts throughout the year.

Padre Coffee – which participated in CafeSmart 2023 as both a roaster and café partner – is now fundraising for StreetSmart through its ‘Good Coffee Doing Good’ project to help provide support for smaller community-based and grassroots homelessness and community services.

By donating $4 for each kilogram of its Golden Rule blend sold across retail and wholesale operations and connecting customers to StreetSmart over the next six months, CafeSmart says Padre Coffee will help bring real and meaningful change across many local communities to its wholesale network.

“When our team was looking for our next ‘Good Coffee Doing Good’ project partner, the StreetSmart name came up a few times around the office given our long-term partnership with them through their CafeSmart initiative,” says Georgia Folker, Trade and Retail Marketing Lead at Padre Coffee.

“The project is Padre Coffee’s ongoing fundraising program. We were excited to see how we could continue to help tell the StreetSmart story, and further connect our network with the amazing work they are doing, especially since they have already helped us support vital services in the same communities where our cafés are based.”

The team at StreetSmart are passionate about ending homelessness and providing care for those in crisis. The team understands that this is an enormous task that requires a collective effort from all sectors of the community, including corporate partners and passionate teams.

In the last year alone, StreetSmart has distributed $1,896,342 across 535 community partners and are about to announce the grant recipients of the more than $145,000 raised through CafeSmart 2023. This impact couldn’t be accomplished in isolation, which is why the organisation is encouraging like-minded individuals and companies to join the mission and find innovative ways to give back.
