Campos Coffee to bring Mokhtar Alkhanshali to Australia

Mokhtar Alkhanshali

Campos Coffee will welcome Yemeni coffee producer Mokhtar Alkhanshali to Australia for the first Campos Experience Evening Series of 2019.

Mokhtar will share the challenges of Yemeni coffee production, how he is helping improve the country’s coffee quality, and how he brought it to the rest of the world to enjoy. His efforts were the subject of Dave Egger’s novel The Monk of Mokha.

“Yemen is one of the most expensive coffee markets in the world and its coffee is the most expensive to produce per pound,” Mokhtar says.

Mokhtar likes to say “the closet distance between two people is a cup of coffee” and will also discuss its community spirit at the event.

Alongside Mokhtar, Campos Coffee Founder Will Young will explore the humanitarian and sustainability challenges that ethically-sourced and managed coffee can help solve.

As part of the event, attendees will have a rare chance to taste and purchase Mokhtar’s Yemeni coffee, roasted and prepared by the Campos team, as well as pick up a signed copy of The Monk of Mokhtar.

The Campos Experience Evenings will be held at the roaster’s flagship cafés in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane at the following dates and locations:

Sydney: 3 April from 6pm to 8pm, at 1/16 Baker Street, Banksmeadow

Melbourne: 4 April from 6pm to 8pm, at 144 Elgin Street, Carlton

Brisbane: 9 April from 6pm to 8pm, at 18 Longland Street, Newstead
