Survey reveals Australia’s most trusted coffee machines

De’Longhi was voted Australia’s Most Trusted Brand in the Coffee Machines category of the 2020 Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Survey. Breville placed second and Lavazza placed third in the category. Catalyst Research conducted the independent survey for Reader’s Digest. The market research agency polled a cross-section of more than 3000 Australians and 1601 New Zealanders to establish the most-trusted brands across more than 70 consumer categories.

CafeSmart organiser Streetsmart Australia has provided more than 5400 meals to vulnerable people during the coronavirus pandemic through its SmartMeals program. StreetSmart Australia says charity meals programs are shut across the country. With gatherings restricted and older volunteers protecting their health, food security for vulnerable Australians is an emerging challenge. At the same time restaurants and cafés are closing or reducing hours. This is making people with limited resources vulnerable to poverty, hunger, and homelessness.

Published in the scientific journal Foods, 156 test subjects had their sense of smell and taste tested before and after drinking coffee. The researchers found no changes in their sense of smell, but they found that the sense of taste was affected.
