Kalibús la Sierra wins Guatemalan Cup of Excellence
The Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE) has announced the Kalibús la Sierra farm the 2016 Cup of Excellence (COE) Guatemalan winner.
The winning lot from Kalibús la Sierra in the Sierra de las Minas region of Guatemala scored 92.09 in the international cupping, and secured a price of US$42.10 per pound. Read more
Foodco crowns Muffin Break and Jamaica Blue barista champions
Following an intense two-day event, Foodco Group has crowned Muffin Break Penrith and Jamaica Blue Warringah Mall the winners of its tenth annual barista competition.
Held at Foodco’s Centre of Retail Excellence in Sydney from 22 – 23 June, two finalists from each state of Australia were selected to compete in the annual event, out of 340 baristas across Muffin Break bakery cafés, and 166 from Jamaica Blue cafés. Read more
SCAE announces Excellence Award winners
The annual Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) Excellence Awards have been presented to leaders in the coffee community excelling in their fields.
Announced on 24 June at World of Coffee in Dublin, Ireland, the SCAE International Development Committee judged the award winners, honouring members of the community who have contributed to the success of the coffee industry through education, innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship. Poland’s Filip Kucharczyk wins 2016 World AeroPress Championship
Filip Kucharczyk of Cafe Targowa in Poland has won the 2016 World AeroPress Championship in Dublin, Ireland.
After an evening of hotly-contested competition on 23 June, the 11 international judges agreed that Filip consistently brewed the tastiest cup of coffee using an Aerobie AeroPress. Read more
