The Colombian Coffee Hub will host its first National Coffee Quality Contest and live auction on 7 October at ExpoEspeciales 2016 in Bogota, Colombia.

The contest is part of the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation’s (FNC) strategy to increase the profitability of Colombian coffee growers by promoting and broadcasting high quality coffees from different Colombian regions.

The competition will include two categories – small lots (4 to 15 bags) and big lots (250 to 275, 70-kilogram bags).

Small lots will be judged and awarded based on the best sensory attributes including acidity, body, mildness, balance and exotic.

Large lots will be assessed on single distinction with an award to the best overall estate coffee.

The best 30 lots will participate in the live auction in Bogota, Corferias Convention Centre on 7 October.

The coffee growers will receive the premium payment obtained during the auction.

The ninth edition of the international coffee fair ExpoEspeciales Café de Colombia concludes on 8 October. More than 100 exhibitors representing the productive and commercial coffee chain will participate in the event, which also hosts the Colombian Barista Championship and National Cup Tasters Championship.
