Danilo “Danny” de Andrade from DiBella Coffee has won the 2018 Australian World Tea Brewers Championship (WTBC), held at Fine Food Australia on 12 September.
“I’m very excited to have won the World Tea Brewers Championship here in Australia, especially as this was the first time I entered,” Danny says.
“The competition was tough and it was great to meet the other amazing competitors from around the country.”
Danny won using a blend of Mi Lan Xiang, a Wulong tea, with coconut sugar, lemon juice and egg white.
The 2018 Australian WTBC saw 16 competitors from across the country compete in the competition.
Competitors are judged on the tea infusion, their communication, presentation, brewing skills, and signature beverage creation, by a panel of industry experts, including last year’s winner Tania Stacy.
Danny will represent Australia at the China WTBC being held at Sial Shanghai in May, 2019.
