DoorDash and BioPak have partnered to offer affordable online pricing on sustainable packaging products for restaurants and cafés across South Australia and Western Australia adjusting to the ban of single-use plastics.
Following the introduction of new packaging regulations implemented in the states on 1 September 2024, the collaboration enables DoorDash Merchants to create accounts with their DoorDash credentials on BioPak’s shopping portal to gain access to exclusive pricing on sustainable packaging.
“By providing merchants with sustainable packaging, including red bags and compostable containers, we continue to support their environmental goals while also aligning with broader initiatives to reduce plastic waste across the country,” says Puji Fernando, DoorDash Australia General Manager.
DoorDash has also announced the availability of its red bags for its partners in Western Australia and South Australia. The bags align with state regulations as a sustainable alternative to plastic bags.
The team at DoorDash believe BioPak’s plant-based, compostable, and B-Corp certified packaging is a fitting solution for its merchants working to reduce waste and adhere to sustainability standards.
“The partnership with DoorDash is an important step in our fight to achieve a Zero Waste future,” says Gary Smith, BioPak CEO.
“At BioPak, we’re committed to disrupting the traditional packaging model and creating compostable solutions that can be adopted by businesses across Australia and the Asia-Pacific, changing consumer behaviours to adopt only circular economy solutions.”
DoorDash believes this partnership will enable small business owners across the states to better adjust to new regulations. In 2023, with the help of restaurant partners, DoorDash played a key role in diverting 133,971kg of plastic waste from landfill.
