A top prize of US$40,000 (about $56,000) has been announced for the Dubai International Coffee Championship. The runner-up will receive a prize of US$5000.
The competition will take place at the Dubai International Coffee and Tea Festival from 5 to 7 December.
The Dubai International Coffee Championship is one consolidated event to test its competitors across aspects of coffee making incorporating barista, latte art and brewing skills.
Entry to the international competitor category is US$500 for independent baristas or US$1000 for sponsored baristas who wish to compete using their company’s apron or logo.
The closing date for submissions will be announced closer to the event.
A national category open to United Arab Emirates-based competitors will also be held, with a top prize of AED 15,000 (about $5700). UAE competitors may also compete in the international category but not vice versa
