The Australian International Coffee Awards (AICA) has invited the world’s best coffee roasters to benchmark their products at its 2020 program.
Conducted annually by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), the awards, now in their eighth year, celebrate and promote coffee roasting excellence in Australia and internationally.
RASV CEO Brad Jenkins calls the AICA an incredible event that recognises and rewards the world’s best roasters.
“Winning a medal or trophy offers an unrivalled opportunity for roasters to leverage their success on a local, national, and international level,” Brad says.
With judging taking place at Victoria’s Melbourne Showgrounds, AICA offers roasters an opportunity to have industry leaders anonymously assess their coffees. Brad sights the selection of judges and baristas as a critical element that drives the growing prestige, scale and success of the awards.
“We are thrilled to welcome back Melissa Caia as Head Judge and Adam Metelmann as Head Barista. Melissa and Adam are both terrific ambassadors for the coffee industry and are the perfect people to oversee the judging of the 2020 AICA,” Brad says.
“Participants in the AICA can benchmark their products against industry standards, receive feedback from independent industry experts, market their award winning coffee, and promote their products through associated events.”
Roasters whose product judges score highly earn the right to display an Australian International Coffee Awards seal of excellence on their packaging and gain access to an exclusive medal winners’ marketing and promotions toolkit.
With judging to take place from 4 to 6 March 2020 at Melbourne Showgrounds and trophy winners to be announced later that month, AICA encourages coffee roasters to get their entries in early to be part of the program.
Entries for the competition close on 7 February 2020.
