The Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) Product Innovation Awards will return in 2019, and entries are now open.

The Product Innovation Awards recognise MICE exhibitors and the contributions they make to the coffee industry each year.

The awards will include two categories: People’s Choice, judged by visitors to MICE, and Judges’ Choice, judged by an independent panel.

Entrants must be a registered exhibitor at MICE2019 and have invested in creating a new technology or product, new to the company since 1 January. The product must address a need, solve a problem or provide an upgraded or updated service to the industry.

Judges will make their decisions based on the following criteria:

  1. Is the product creating value for the industry? Is it cost effective for customers, and will it help to improve their business?
  2. Does the design and/or production of the product incorporate sustainable materials or methods?
  3. How does this product contribute to the overall knowledge of the Australian coffee industry? Does it help to educate customers (either businesses or end consumers)?

At MICE2018, Water Filter Services won the 2018 Judge’s Choice Product Innovation Award for the BWT BestAqua 1C and BestCoffee 100 Premium.

Detpak took out second place in the Judge’s Choice category, as well as the People’s Choice Award for its Precision Series Specialty Coffee cups.

MICE2019 will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 7 to 9 February.
