SCAE announces Excellence Award winners

The annual Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) Excellence Awards have been presented to leaders in the coffee community excelling in their fields.

Announced on 24 June at World of Coffee in Dublin, Ireland, the SCAE International Development Committee judged the award winners, honouring members of the community who have contributed to the success of the coffee industry through education, innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship. Honduras COE auction makes history with record-breaking bid

The 2016 Cup of Excellence (COE) Honduras auction has broken the record for the highest price ever recorded.

On June 16, winning COE farmer Marysabel Garcia Caballero from El Puente farm in Chinacla, La Paz, received the record-setting bid of US$120.50 (approximately AUD$160) per pound for her Geisha coffee.  Read more

Applications for NYC Coffee Masters close 30 June

Time is running out to apply for The 2016 New York City Coffee Masters.

Applications to compete in the fast-paced, multi-disciplinary global barista tournament will close 30 June.

The competition will return to The New York Coffee Festival from 16 to 18 September at the 69th Regiment Armory, 68 Lexington Avenue in Manhattan, United States. Read more

Budapest to host five coffee competitions in 2017

The Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) has announced it will host five coffee championship events at World of Coffee Budapest in 2017, in partnership with World Coffee Events (WCE).

Hungary’s capital will open its arms from 13 – 15 June 2017 to host the World Brewers Cup, World Latte Art, World Coffee in Good Spirits, World Cup Tasters and World Cezve/Ibrik Championships at the SCAE’s annual speciality coffee event. Read more

Judges revealed for Coffee Masters NYC

Allegra Events have announced the judges participating in Coffee Masters New York City 2016.

The line-up of international judges includes John Letoto of Greenway Coffee and Blacksmith in the United States, Anne Lunell of Koppi Roasters in Sweden, Dan Streetman of Irving Farm Coffee Roasters in NYC, David Donde of Truth Coffee Roasting in South Africa, and Maxwell Colonna-Dashwood of Colonna and Small’s in the United Kingdom. The London Coffee Festival returns for sixth edition

The United Kingdom is getting ready to welcome its sixth edition of The London Coffee Festival.

Taking place from 7 – 10 April at the Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, as many as 35,000 people are expected to join this year’s coffee celebrations. Read more
