Ona Coffee’s flagship café in Marrickville, Sydney, has been named the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2025 Café of the Year.
The café recently celebrated its one-year anniversary on 6 November 2024, with the team saying the award “came as a surprise on the day of service”.
“This award feels like a huge congratulations gift and a pat on the back, recognising the hard work the team has put into building Ona Sydney Smith Street,” the team said in an announcement.
“This award means the world to us, and it came as such a shock, especially as we think there are so many improvements we can still make to our venue. We’ve got more exciting plans for 2025, so keep your eyes on us.”
The Good Food Guide, now in its 40th year, is released annually and highlights the top hospitality venues across Sydney and New South Wales.
Each year, the guide is compiled by a team of anonymous critics and food experts who visit hundreds of restaurants, cafés, and bars across the region. The selections are based on the quality of food, the experience provided to guests, and the overall standards of service.
Founded in Canberra in 2008, Ona Coffee has nearly 150 retailers and cafés partners nationwide, with five flagship locations in Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney.
“Here’s to many more years of coffee, community, and shared moments. We can’t wait to see what the future holds,” the team at Ona Sydney said.
