Applications are open for the 2019 Hostplus Hospitality Scholarship, supported by the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, until 15 May.
Now in its sixth year, the scholarship offers hospitality experience at three international businesses.
“This scholarship offers a life-changing opportunity for young people across the breadth of the Australian hospitality industry. Hostplus is extremely proud to support this initiative that will create valuable connections and learning experiences,” says Hostplus CEO, David Elia.
The Hostplus scholarship is accessible to anyone aged 22 to 35 and currently working within the hospitality industry.
The scholarships prize is facilitated by the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, offering the winner a year-long mentorship with a local industry leader. In addition, international work experience with flights, accommodation, and spending money are included.
“Our hospitality industry continues to be shaped by influences from across Australia and the world, from building upon our nation’s rich migrant heritage, to pushing boundaries to create uniquely Australian food and drink experience,” says Anthea Loucas Bosha, CEO of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
“This scholarship is an incredible next step for one hospitality star to learn from global leaders and bring their insights back to Australia.”
The judging panel for the scholarship will feature leaders from across Australia’s hospitality industry including Shane Della of Matha and Biggie Smalls, Gail Donovan of Donovans, Pat Nourse of Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, Raphael Rashid of Beatbox Kitchen, and Fleur Studd of Melbourne Coffee Merchants and Market Lane Coffee.
Hostplus, the national superannuation fund for hospitality has been supporting the scholarship since it launched in 2014.
