International Women’s Coffee Alliance launches Australian chapter

International Women’s Coffee Alliance

The Australian chapter of the International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA) has opened applications for membership.

IWCA says its mission is to empower women in the international coffee community to achieve meaningful and sustainable lives, and to encourage and recognise the participation of women in all aspects of the coffee industry.IWCA Australia hosted its first event, a breakfast meet-up at Padre Coffee in Melbourne on 9 February.

At the breakfast, the group discussed the vital role women play in the coffee industry and what it can do to work towards gender equality. IWCA Australia says the next step is to grow its members elect a new board and committee.

One of the chapter’s founders, Gina Di Brita of Numero Uno Coffee Roasters, was awarded the Woman of the Year at the 2019 Eleonora Genovese Women in Coffee Awards.

All positions within the IWCA Australian Chapter are voluntary.
