The International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA) Australian Chapter is inviting all members to connect online for a knowledge sharing session with Dr. Sarada Krishnan, IWCA Executive Director and newly appointed Director of Programs of The Crop Trust.
Taking place on Thursday 21 July at 3:00pm AEST, Sarada will talk about her knowledge in coffee genetics resources and the importance of conservation.
She has a Master of Science in Horticulture from Colorado State University and doctorate research at University of Colorado with a focal point on conservation genetics in wild coffee in Madagascar.
She also owns coffee plantations in Jamaica Blue Mountain and was a key figure in the formation of Jamaica’s Chapter of the IWCA global network. She was appointed as the IWCA Executive Director in May 2021 to direct the strategic plans and the growth of the alliance.
Sarada’s latest achievement was in March 2022, when she was selected for the position of Director of Programs of The Crop Trust. Overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of the technical program of the organisation, Sarada will lead an expert team of scientists working with many dedicated partners all around the world to conserve crop diversity and use it to ensure global food and nutrition security.
