The Songwa Estates partners, La Marzocco, Mahlkönig and Probat, have announced 2018 investments for social initiative project, Hands for Songwa.
The leading European machine manufacturers joined forces in 2007 to established Songwa Estates, a non-profit endeavour aimed at educating staff, clients and those who work in the coffee sector in a meaningful way as well as providing tangible support to the community whose livelihoods depend on the growth and harvest of coffee.
Following the construction and inauguration of wells with platforms and pumps in 2017, proceeds from Hands for Songwa (a percentage of the sale of products manufactured by the partners) will be donated in 2018 towards additional wells to ensure that members of the community residing near the Songwa coffee farm have access to clean water.
This year, the project will also cover costs for the construction of a new primary school building in the nearby village of Idugumbi in Tanzania.
