La Marzocco Australia will host the global premiere of The Rise of Espresso documentary at the 2024 Italian Film Festival in Melbourne on 24 September and Sydney on 1 October.
Directed by Enrico Ventrice and promoted by Accademia del Caffe Espresso, a culture house established by La Marzocco, The Rise of Espresso is a celebration of coffee culture, chronicling its rapid consumption and widespread appreciation.
The documentary explores the widespread love of espresso from Florence to New York, Seattle to Melbourne. It pays tribute to the personal journeys and stories of Italian immigrants who sought to start new lives, the development and expansion of the coffee market, and the rituals that surround the consumption of espresso today.
The screenings in Melbourne and Sydney will be followed by question-and-answer sessions featuring thought leaders who will discuss the state and popularity of espresso culture in Australia. Speakers for the Melbourne session include St. Ali CEO Lachlan Ward and Elizabeth Triarico of CO.AS.It Italian Historical Society. Speakers for the Sydney event include Sam Bufalino of Cimabli and Famea, and Emily Oak of St.Ali.
The Melbourne screening is sold out, while few tickets remain for Sydney. Tickets can still be purchased through this link.
