To celebrate International Coffee Day 2019, Italian coffeehouse Lavazza, in collaboration with Melbourne café Brunetti, will give away free coffee to Melburnians between 10am and 11am at Brunetti Flinders Lane on 1 October.

During Free Coffee Hour, caffeine lovers will be serenaded by an operatic duo with accompanying musician, and Lavazza will host interactive coffee experiences for customers in-store, including coffee caviar making.

Australian Survivor 2019 winner and  actress Pia Miranda will be making an appearance at International Coffee Day celebrations.

For those who can’t make Free Coffee Hour, Brunetti will be serving up special Il Campione coffee and hazelnut desserts, and savoury dishes hero-ing coffee all day, and coffee flavoured Negroni Lavazzas all night.

Brunetti serves more than one tonne of an exclusive Lavazza Brunetti collaborative coffee blend per week across its Melbourne city stores.

Melburnians buy an average 3.91 cups of coffee from a café/restaurant/bar per week.

To mark 2017 International Coffee Day, Lavazza Australia also released survey results around Aussie coffee consumption habits, using independent research company Indeana.

Thirty to 39 year olds are the highest consumers of coffee in Melbourne, with 40 to 49 years olds coming in a close second.

Single people sharing with friends are the highest percentage of coffee drinkers in Melbourne, at 27 per cent, and spending an average of $5.14 per cup.
