Lime café is the manifestation of a lifelong dream for owner, Frank Quaresimin. Frank has created an atmosphere which encompasses the aspects that he sees the consumer demanding: clean, healthy, and sustainable food, with a focus on gluten-free alternatives.
Located in the business district of West Perth, Lime café is a bustling lunch spot, offering healthy choices and using unusual international flavors and ingredients, such as quinoa, saffron and ras-el- hanout, used in dishes such as their signature chicken and apricot tagine.
With Frank’s Italian upbringing, the demand for flavour was the incentive and basis of The Lime’s beginning. The staff note that they enjoy the challenge and excitement of taking traditional recipes and turning them into something modern, healthy, and gluten free.
Nearly everything is made in-house; from the lemon aioli to the freshly-baked muffins, Lime strives to offer organic products whenever possible. always gluten-free, and have opted to use Map Fair Trade Organic, what they saw as the strong and best tasting organic coffee around.
Also on offer are dozens of salads and gluten-free wraps, organic teas, gelato, freshly-squeezed juices, and an entertaining list of cleverly-named smoothies. Intriguing, and tantalizing smoothies are a popular choice for the Lime customer with the staff dubbing their hero smoothie ‘the big yummy’ which combines banana, dates and soymilk with a twist, adding the surprising ingredient peanut butter!
Lime café is only a year old but is building momentum in a niche market that has been overlooked thus far in Perth. “Give Lime café a visit and you’ll see that healthy and gluten-free food can and does taste great,” says Frank.
