Barista Group is always on the lookout for the next piece of technology that could redefine the Australian café scene – and the team think they’ve found the latest game-changer.

The mission has always been clear at Barista Group: to eliminate unnecessary steps and elevate workflow efficiency without compromising quality.

Achieving that tough balancing act has been the goal since the Australian coffee equipment supplier’s inception. It’s a raison d’être for introducing automated technology like the Übermilk range of milk and liquid dispensers, the Markibar Izaga W grinder, and, most recently, COSTREE by Batch Flow to the Australian industry.

Now, the addition of the XDosing G1 to its equipment stable is a natural extension of that philosophy.

Barista Group National Support Manager, Tosh Zhou, encountered the XDosing system while travelling through China, where its practical application in busy café environments immediately stood out to him.

Although the concept of the G1 caught Tosh’s eye, it was the effectiveness in how it addressed a real operational gap in modern coffee service that placed it firmly on Barista Group’s radar.

“There’s been a noticeable shift among flagship roasters toward offering multiple single origin coffees, particularly in filter applications,” says Tosh.

“At the same time, equipment like the xBloom brewer is gaining strong traction in specialty cafés, often resulting in two or even three brewers operating simultaneously on the bar.

“Traditionally, baristas must open individual bags, weigh doses manually, and prepare each brew separately. This process is not only time consuming, but it can introduce inconsistency and interrupt service flow – especially during peak periods.

“This progression in specialty coffee is very exciting, but it introduces a new bottleneck: how do cafés efficiently serve multiple single origin filter coffees without disrupting workflow?”

It’s this sticking point that Tosh believes the G1 can overcome, helping venues redefine their workflow.

Developed by REDXKEY, the XDosing G1 is a smart, modular coffee bean dosing system designed specifically for single-dose preparation and on-the-spot blending.

It’s a technique that is widely used in high-end alcohol, tea, and rice applications – among others. However, in coffee, blending has traditionally been restricted to lower-end espresso blends, meaning the top levels of specialty coffee are typically dominated by single origins.

“The X-Dosing G1 enables baristas to pre-load multiple coffees and dispense exact gram-level doses instantly, eliminating manual weighing and reducing workflow friction,” says Tosh.

It’s already used in other markets including China, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, South Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia. It has also passed several rigorous safety and quality certifications in these regions.

Manufacturer REDXKEY has also initiated the creation of the World Coffee Blending Championships (WCBC) to create a platform for ‘blendistas’ across the globe to connect, compete, and create.

XDosing serves as the designated equipment provider for the competition.

The modular design of the system, according to Tosh, is the main strength of the G1, which can be configured in multiple ways to accommodate different needs.

“The system’s modular architecture is one of its defining strengths. Cafés can configure the G1 with single, three, or five-module setups, connected via the BeanSlide system, allowing seamless scalability depending on menu complexity and volume requirements,” says Tosh.

“Each module is engineered for fast and consistent bean delivery, precise dosing accuracy, easy cleaning and maintenance, clear visibility of beans in use, and flexible configuration for blending or single origin service.

“For cafés running multiple brewers or offering diverse filter menus, this translates into a streamlined workflow where baristas can move from selection to brewing instantly with no weighing, no interruptions, and no compromise.”

Beyond efficiency, the introduction of the XDosing G1 to the Australian market introduces a new level of control to coffee preparation, according to Barista Group.

“By enabling precise ratios, it enables cafés to explore blending in real-time or maintain absolute consistency across single origin offerings – effectively bridging the gap between creativity and repeatability,” says Tosh.

“From Barista Group’s perspective, the alignment is clear. XDosing G1 is more than another piece of equipment, it’s a workflow solution that directly addresses one of the most pressing challenges in modern café operations.”

Barista Group launched the XDosing G1 in Australia in late-May 2026.
