Merlo Coffee is launching a new Rescue Blend as part of a fundraising partnership with Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ).

The partnership will be launched on 17 December in conjunction with SLSQ’s ‘Little Lifesavers’ Program at Streets Beach in Southbank, Brisbane.

The Rescue Blend is available to buy online until 31 March 2025 or until sold out. From each kilogram of coffee purchased, the roastery will donate $7 to a Queensland Surf Life Saving Club. Beach and coffee lovers will select the local club they wish to support at checkout.

SLSQ CEO Dave Whimpey says having the support of a well-known and respected Queensland brand such as Merlo will provide a boost to the life saving capabilities of Surf Clubs across the state.

“Merlo is a brand that has a strong history and connection with Queensland having started here back in 1958, while SLSQ is the largest volunteer organisation in the state, so we believe this relationship is the perfect blend to support thousands of Queenslanders and potentially save lives through direct investment in our hard-working volunteers and Clubs,” he says.

“Who doesn’t love a coffee in the morning and what better way to enjoy your morning beverage than to also support a community cause at the same time. We thank Merlo for their support and look forward to a great summer.”

Merlo CEO David Holt says the coffee roaster is pleased to be fuelling current and future generations of Life Savers with quality caffeine.

“We are excited to partner with Surf Life Saving Queensland to support local surf clubs across the state,” he says.

“This collaboration blends our passion for great coffee with a commitment to community safety, ensuring SLSQ’s life-saving work continues year-round. So, when you enjoy your coffee, you’re not only treating yourself – you’re supporting the heroes who protect Queensland’s beaches.”

The Merlo x SLSQ Rescue Blend is available online or in Surf Life Saving Clubs statewide.
