Fans of moka pot coffee should mark 21 April in their calendars, as this date will mark the first ever Moka Day – a new annual moment dedicated to the brewing method.
Announced by heritage Italian brand Bialetti, Moka Day coincides with World Creativity and Innovation Day, as well as the opening of Milan Design Week 2026.
Bialetti says to mark the occasion, “a number of places” around the world will serve coffee exclusively prepared with the moka pot, including New York restaurant Riscioli.
Chief Marketing and Design Officer at Bialetti, Alessio Gianni, says the inauguration of Moka Day comes down to honouring the traditions and rituals that have surrounded the coffee brewing method for almost a century.
The Moka is a timeless object, present in homes around the world,” he says. “Its strength lies in its simplicity. For nearly a century, it has brought coffee into everyday life and continues to impact generations.
“Moka Day is about recognising how good design, in its simplest form, can shape culture. Above all, it is a way of saying thank you to the millions of people who, every day, use the moka and share it with the ones they love.”
Since being founded by Alfonso Bialetti in 1933, more than 500 million Bialetti moka pots have been sold worldwide.
It was also utilised during the 2026 Milano Cortana Winter Olympics opening ceremony, where performers dressed as colourful moka pots danced during the celebrations.
