Aroma Coffee to host Gesha Village cupping on 9 May

From the May 2017 issue.

Aroma Coffee will host a Gesha Village cupping at Roastville in Marrickville, New South Wales on Tuesday 9 May.

Gavin Gam of Aroma Coffee Roastery and Ethiopian Coffee Ambassador will host a short presentation about the program before inviting guests to taste some “phenomenal coffees”.

Village Coffee Estate coffee is produced in the heartland of Gesa, Ethiopia. It harvests coffee from the Gori Gesha wild coffee forest, found about 20 kilometres from its farm, the site where the famous Panamanian Gesha was found in the 1930s.

The 471-hectare farm has a strong ongoing focus on research, conservation and exploration, with projects including genetic testing, climate research and production of a Gesha botanical garden.

On 31 May Village Coffee Estate will host its first online auction for the best heirloom Gesha lots available this year, including washed and natural Gesha 1931, Gordo Gesha, and Illubabor Forest, as well as wet fermentation Gori Gesha – a disease-resistant cultivar obtained from the research centre in Ethiopia. This selection was made from an expedition to the Illubabor coffee forest in 1974.
