Host to take place 20 to 24 October in Milan

From the October 2017 issue.

Host Milan is set for a record-breaking trade fair when more than 2000 companies and 1500 buyers from five continents gather for the 40th edition from 20 to 24 October.

Host is a trade fair that takes place every two years, showcasing the latest technological innovation in catering, coffee, ice cream, pastries, cups, furnishings and more.

Over the years, this event has become a benchmark for the hospitality, restaurant and catering industries.

More than 500 events are scheduled for the five-day event, including championships, workshops, training opportunities, round table discussions, and cooking shows.

“Figures confirm Host’s leading position among international trade fairs and is very promising for this 40th edition,” says Simona Greco, Fiera Milano’s Art, Fashion, Hospitality and Travel Exhibitions Director. “Host is the perfect marketplace where Italian and international manufacturers can present their technological innovations and trends in the hospitality industry.”

The event is organised in the following three macro-areas: professional catering with bread, pizza, and pasta; coffee and tea, with bars, coffee and vending machines, ice creams and pastries; furnishings and tableware. For the first time, a bridge will join the ice cream, pastries and coffee sector to stimulate all five senses.

The event will host the Cake Designers World Championship and the World Trophy of Pastry, Ice Cream and Chocolate, and the European Pizza Championships.

Sic, International Coffee Exhibition is the area dedicated to coffee. It will host the Fantasie al caffè competition, aimed at highlighting new ideas revolving around coffee.

Cafe Chronology, produced by World Coffee Events, will take visitors on a journey through the culture of coffee from the early twentieth century to today, while at the Coffee Science Hub guests can partake in a workshop to learn about the scientific principles at the base of a good cup of coffee.

The National Institute of Italian Espresso will host the Espresso Italiano Championship 2017, the Italian Academy of Coffee Masters will host the fifth Italian Coffeehouse Grand Prix, and Trismoka will host the 2017 Milano Latte Art Challenge with 12 baristas battling for victory.
