The New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA) is seeking nominations for ongoing contribution, development, and association friends of the NZ coffee community.
The NZSCA’s recognition awards celebrate and reward individuals who have made a significant contribution to the NZ coffee industry over the years. This year NZSCA is asking its members and coffee professionals to put forth the names of the individuals that they think have made this kind of contribution. It could be through mentorship, innovation or volunteering time and skills.
Nominations close 31 March. To nominate someone, click here.
The board will consider all nominations, ask for more information where required, and make a decision which will be announced at the NZSCA AGM in Christchurch on 18 May.
There are three categories available for recognition awards: ongoing contribution, development, and friend of the association.
Last year, Chris White was awarded the Ongoing Contribution award for his longstanding support of the NZ Championship events. Rene Macaulay was the 2016 recipient of the Development Award, having worked in the coffee industry since 2007, and Michael CY Park was awarded the Friend of the NZSCA award for his dedication and responsibility in providing photography for the association’s events, including four barista championships, two latte art championships, two Symposiums and two AGMs.
In addition, the NZSCA is seeking volunteers for its Cup Tasters, Brewers Cup and Latte Art competitions.
The NZ Cup Tasters and Brewers Cup events are less than a month away, commencing 17 and 18 March respectively. The Meadow Fresh NZ Latte Art Championship will follow closely on 8 April.
Participating, whether it’s through competing or volunteering, is a great way to improve your skills in your chosen discipline and to connect with the coffee community.
