Nuova Simonelli offers six youth scholarships for coffee skills program

Espresso machine manufacturer Nuova Simonelli has created the Simonelli Youth Academy to spread the knowledge of coffee secrets to the youth demographic.

The honour the new program, the Simonelli Youth Academy will offer six scholarships to baristas aged between 18 to 30 to undertake a coffee education and training program to help build a successful career in the coffee industry.

The new program is designed for promising young baristas who love coffee and want to deepen their skills.

“It is an ambitious project,” says Lauro Fioretti, Program Manager and Course Lecturer. [It] intends to bring new brilliant minds into this sector and consequently allow the industry to continuously grow and strengthen itself, spreading the culture of quality coffee with a growing number of professionals.”

Applications close 9 April 2018. To apply,  candidates must send a video of maximum 90 seconds which demonstrates their passion for coffee to convince the team of Simonelli Youth Academy teachers that they are the right person for this training project (click here to download now the subscription form and the rules). “The courses offered by the Simonelli Youth Academy are mainly based on [the Specialty Coffee Associaton’s] Coffee Skills Program and are the right path for good learning as they transversely address all the issues related to coffee. This is a preferential way to access the world of work and add great value to your coffee curriculum,” says Dario Ciarlantini, Project Coordinator.

In addition to Lauro and Dario, Marco Cremonese and Francesca Bieker will join the Simonelli Youth Academy team of teachers.

The Simonelli Academy has been a meeting place and centre of technical and professional knowledge among coffee operators from more than 120 countries in the world for more than 20 years.
