Project Origin has announced its first official venture into Korea.

With distribution partners in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and an office in Shanghai, Project Origin Founder Sasa Sestic says the establishment of Project Origin Korea is the next organic step in the company’s growth.

“When we last visited [South] Korea for the World Barista Championships in 2017, we were so impressed by the standard of specialty coffee there,” he says.

“[Its] specialty market is really focused on sharing the hard work of producers from around the world, which is very much what we aim to do through Project Origin.”

Spearheading Project Origin Korea is Sungmin Kim, Head of Acme Coffee Solutions.

“We are really excited to be working with Sungmin and finding new ways to share the coffees we source with coffee lovers in [South] Korea,” Sasa says.

Project Origin Korea is already well under way, with the green bean trader having just finished a cupping tour of Geisha coffees through Seoul, Jeonju, Busan and Jeju.
