Proud Mary Coffee Roasters will host its annual Cold Brew Throwdown on 30 November from 6pm to 9pm at Aunty Peg’s café in Collingwood, Melbourne.
Proud Mary says the throwdown is a fun event where all members of the community, including brewers, baristas, roasters and coffee hobbyists, come together to sample cold brew and share stories about sourcing coffee while competing for first prize and the people’s choice award.
Prizes will also be given out to competitors who use a rare or exotic coffee, such as Geishas and Cup of Excellence winners, and any competitor who is using coffee that has a positive social impact on the producer, their families, or the community.
Proud Mary says this could be money allocated toward social, economic, or environment sustainability.
For a fee of $15, the competition is open to all coffee brewers who would like to enter.
Each brewer will be assigned a station, which may be a bench, table, or box where they can set up with sample cups and anything they need to use as part of their competition.
Brewers will need to bump in to Proud Mary between 5:40pm and 6pm, bring a minimum 2.5 litres of cold brew, any equipment that is required for brewing or preparing, and any additional ingredients, such as ice and oranges.
Entry for the public is free.
