Milklab

Australian plant-based milk brand Milklab is hosting its quarterly Barista Social Club event, offering upcoming baristas the opportunity to learn from influential industry experts and build on their knowledge and skills.

Taking place on Monday 6 December from 6pm until 7pm, the Barista Social Club event will be held virtually.

The Milklab Barista Social Club will be hosted by Coffee Curators Founder Caleb Holstein, with an expert panel featuring pioneer of Melbourne’s coffee culture and founder of St Ali Coffee Roasters Salvatore Malatesta, coffee entrepreneur and Mecca Coffee founder Paul Geshos, as well as Milklab Master Barista Hany Ezzat.

Barista Social Club online panel discussions will be streamed from coffee venues across Australia, with a limited number of spots available for local baristas to watch the panel live and participate in a supporting, hands-on workshop led by Milklab’s baristas.

The panel will discuss the evolution of Australia’s booming coffee culture, the factors that make the Australian Coffee Industry so unique, and the positive impacts of globalisation on coffee culture around the world.

Last year Milklab celebrated its fifth anniversary, and Milklab Assistant Brand Manager Melissa Swinscoe says that Milklab was the first Australian brand to specifically design a plant-based milk range for coffee.

“In the last five years, the growth of both Milklab and the plant-based industry has been phenomenal and there is definitely so much more room for growth in this booming sector,” Melissa says.

“We’re really proud of the loyal following we’ve developed, and we’re excited to continue to innovate for them.”

Milklab says that the events are designed to provide an opportunity for up-and-coming baristas to enhance their industry-related skills and knowledge in creative, social spaces. The session will conclude with a masterclass on how to best pair espresso coffee with Milklab’s plant milks.
