The Royal Adelaide Coffee Show has announced the winners of its inaugural competition, with more than 300 entries from across Australia vying for the five champion titles.

The winner of Champion Espresso was The Flying Chaff in South Australia, and the winner of Champion Latte and Champion Plunger was Coffee Campos Coffee in New South Wales. The winner of Champion Piccolo was The Little Marionette in New South Wales, and the winner of Champion Organic Coffee was Jasper Coffee in Victoria.

Launched this year, the Royal Adelaide Coffee Show is South Australia’s first independent coffee show and is owned and operated by the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia (RAHS).

“We were thrilled to welcome the Royal Adelaide Coffee Show to the RAHS’ portfolio of events this year to celebrate and recognise the outstanding coffee producers that make Australian coffee culture among the best in the world,” says Will Rayner, CEO of RAHS.

“We’re looking forward to building on the achievements of the Coffee Show in 2024 and beyond, as it becomes a mainstay in the industry awards scene along with our Society’s Royal Adelaide Wine Show, Royal Adelaide Beer and Cider Awards, the Royal Australian Spirit Awards and South Australian Dairy Awards.”

The titles were presented to winners at an awards ceremony held at the Adelaide Showground.

The judging panel for the Royal Adelaide Coffee Show was composed of 15 industry professionals, who followed a strict judging process, taking into consideration each exhibit’s appearance, aroma, taste, and body.

To reflect the diversity of the Australian coffee industry, the panel included representatives from small family run roasteries up to multinationals, as well as people with experience growing coffee at origins including New Guinea and Indonesia.

“Overall, there was a great display of both traditional and modern flavours amongst all classes, and the quality of the exhibits was of a high standard which reflects the number of medals awarded,” says Paul Mannassis, Royal Adelaide Coffee Show Chair of Judges and Director at Mocha Coffee.

“Having imported blends, Australian and single origin coffees accepted for evaluation meant we had a really accurate representation of the Australian coffee industry.”
