Single O to host NSW AeroPress Championships

Single Origin Roasters is hosting the New South Wales AeroPress Championships at its roastery in Botany on 27 February. From 5pm onwards, AeroPress hopefuls will take to the stage to demonstrate what they can do with this alternative brew.

Competitors will use Single O’s Kenya Karatu AA in their attempts to wow a judging panel lead by World AeroPress Championship (WAC) pioneer Tim Varney. As well as being a WAC founder, Tim is one of three baristas, which took part in the first competition, held at Tim Wendelboe’s café in Oslo, Norway.

From just three competitors representing two nations, Norway and Australia, the 2016 season has grown to include national competitions in 48 countries.

Single O is inviting the coffee community into its Botany location to cheer on NSW competitors with coffee, beer and burgers.

The winner from the evening will compete in the national championship at Proud Mary Coffee Roasters on 17 March, the opening night of the Melbourne International Coffee Expo.

They will join state winners from competitions taking place around the country, including Square One in Melbourne, Addison & Steel in Perth, Exchange Specialty Coffee in Adelaide and Coffee Supreme in Brisbane.

The competition has now reached maxed capacity of 36 competitors, but Sydney’s coffee community is invited to come along to cheer.

Single O is asking coffee lovers to RSVP online – it’s free – to be part of the crowd.
