Duane Sorenson, Founder of Stumptown Coffee Roasters, has been appointed Global Creative Director of Australian coffee roaster St Ali.

According to St Ali, Duane is a pioneer and founder of the “third wave coffee movement”. This began with Stumptown, which was opened in Portland, Oregon in 1999. The company was then sold to Peet’s Coffee & Tea in 2015.

St Ali“Duane is single-handedly the most creative and forward-thinking coffee professional in the world,” says Salvatore Malatesta, Founder of St Ali.

“Duane has graciously agreed to come on board as Global Creative Director and will work across all facets of the business from ensuring our green bean sourcing remains best in category, to new territories and much more.”

Duane brings more than 30 years of experience as a barista, roaster, and green coffee buyer. He says he is excited to join St Ali as its Global Creative Director and “continue to make dreams come true”.

St Ali is a Melbourne based specialty roaster who runs a Sensory Lab at the Melbourne International Airport and, since 2015, has expanded into the international market, opening St Ali Indonesia in Jakarta.
