WCE announces format changes to WBC 2017

Melbourne’s Stomping Ground brewery is set to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in style with the release of its Snakes Out coffee stout.

To create the “perfect St. Paddy’s Day boilermarker”, Stomping Ground’s Head Brewer Ashur Hall brewed a sweet milk stout with carmelo coffee sourced from the brewery’s neighbour Allpress Coffee.

On 17 March the coffee stout will be served with a shot of Teeling Small Batch Rum Cask Finish Irish Whiskey.

“We all love celebrating St. Paddy’s Day with a few pints every year so we decided to brew a local and sweeter stout, and partner with Teeling’s to create an Irish inspired beer experience,” says Stomping Ground’s Cassie O’Neill. “Ashur has brewed the beer specifically to complement the flavours of the whiskey perfectly.”

Stomping Ground says the name ‘Snakes Out’ is in reference to when St. Patrick “eradicated all the snakes from Ireland”, although the myth comes a little unstuck for St. Patrick because – as legend has it – there weren’t any snakes in Ireland anyway.

Stomping Ground’s Snakes Out coffee stout will feature as part of the Good Beer Week Gala Showcase, taking place at Federation Square on 16 March. It will then be exclusively sold at 12 venues around Melbourne, including Heartbreaker, Boilermaker House, Nieuw Amsterdam, Loch & Key, Fifth Province, Carwyn Cellars, Loch & Key Bar, The Local Taphouse, Freddie Wimpoles and Stomping Ground Beer Hall.
