Sunny Boy opens first café

Sunny Boy

Sunny Boy Coffee Roasters has announced the opening a new café in Moonee Ponds, Victoria, featuring vibrant retro orange interiors and styling, and roasting on site.

Sunny Boy offers a warm yet functional space for locals and travellers  to pop by the takeaway window, pull up a vintage 70s swivel chair or sip a standing espresso at the bar.

This is co-owners Jake Bicchieri and Erkan Selek’s first venture together, although they have been roasting and supplying Melbourne’s coffee scene since 2019.

With a combined total of more than eight years of experience working at renowned cafés, the duo is confident the quality of their products will shine through.

Jake and Erkan are involved with the ethical fair-trade of their green beans, which engages traders that are compliant with fair-go sustainability and price policies.

“We’re proud to share a vast range of coffee from farmers from all different regions of the world by roasting accordingly to showcase the origins’ natural characteristics in every brewing method,” says Jake.

The new café will offer three signature blends: Sunny Side (a medium roast), Goodfella (a dark roast) and Razzle Dazzle (a wild roast).

To accompany fresh coffee, Penny for Pound Bakery provides a rotating selection of pastries. A variety of different flavoured croissants, muffins and banana bread accompany the fresh sandwiches made daily by Jake and Erkan.

Sunny Boy Coffee is located along the north side of Moonee Ponds on Mount Alexander Road and is open 5:30am – 3:00pm on Monday to Friday, with varying times on the weekend.
