As part of the annual Sydney Royal Fine Food Show, judges descended on the Sydney Showgrounds to taste some of the country’s best roasted coffees.
The event took place at Olympic Park as part of the annual Sydney Royal Fine Food show, presented by the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) of New South Wales.
From 31 January to 2 February, judges made their way through 301 entries from 56 exhibitors from around Australia, all vying for coveted gold, silver and bronze medals.
This year’s judging categories included international and Australian-grown single origin and blend coffees across latte, espresso plunger and decaffeinated coffees. All beans had to be roasted in Australia.
RAS Fine Food Committee Chair Sally Evans said increasingly each year, the Sydney Royal Fine Food competition reflects the ever-evolving and widening tastes of Australians and their demands on Australian producers.
“The Sydney Royal brand uncovers and places on a pedestal for all to see – the best of the best among Australian food producers who capture the very essence of the land,” said Paul Mannassis, Chair of Coffee Judges.
Results from the event will be released on 14 February 2017
