Ona Coffee releases WBC-winning CM Selections Tasting Flight

Ona Coffee has released the CM Selections Tasting Flight, which includes several coffees used at the 2018 World Barista Championship (WBC). The tasting flight is made up of three 200-gram bags of coffee from the CM Selections series, each roasted to suit a different preparation method. The series, sourced from Project Origin, takes its name from carbonic maceration, the process used to create each coffee’s flavour profile. This method uses controlled fermentation to develop the flavour profiles of each coffee.

Craig Simon of Veneziano Coffee makes Semi Finals of WBC

Craig Simon of Veneziano Coffee Roasters will compete in the Semi Finals of the 2018 World Barista Championship (WBC) on 22 June. Craig competed in the first round of heats on 21 June at World of Coffee in Amsterdam, taking to station three with a 15-minute routine that had the judges drinking their milk beverages with straws and swirling Craig’s signature beverage like they were at a wine bar.

Veneziano Coffee’s Craig Simon set for third attempt at WBC

Craig Simon of Veneziano Coffee is ready to make his third attempt at the World Barista Championships (WBC) in Amsterdam from 20 to 23 June. Craig won the Australian Barista Championship in 2012 and 2014, and placed a career high of fourth in the 2014 WBC. After winning the Australian Barista Championship at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) in March after a four-year hiatus, Craig will compete against 60 national barista representatives, using a connection of wine and the sommelier profession to impress the judges. Stage is set for World of Coffee Amsterdam

Amsterdam is set to host World of Coffee from 21 to 23 June. Each year, World of Coffee draws a loyal audience from the global specialty coffee community, more than 80 per cent of whom return year-on-year. The event, run by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), has more than doubled in size and stature over the past five years, growing from 3000 visitors and 45 exhibitors to 6800 visitors and 240 exhibitors.
